HIGHLIGHTS
The Winter Concert this year saw over 90 students, with support from staff, taking part in the concert performing everything from timeless Christmas staples such as Santa Baby and Sleigh Ride, to pieces from Fat Boy Slim and Snow Patrol, as well as Classical pieces from Tchaikovsky and Choral works by Vaughan-Williams. It was a delight to hear the amazing talent we have at Charters and a taster of what was performed can be seen below.
One of our former students (who performed the Winter Concert last year) went to Manchester University and as part of her application was awarded a Choral Scholarship. Two performances that she is part of in the build-up to Christmas and being broadcast on Radio 3 next week, if you are interested in listening the links are here: Monday 11 December at 9:30pm (BBC Radio 3 - Compline, Advent 2) and Choral Evensong at 4pm on Wednesday 13 December (BBC Radio 3 - Choral Evensong, St Paul's Church, Heaton Moor, Stockport)
This week, once again, we have had several trips out, the Sixth Formers enjoyed a trip to the London Eye and the Christmas market on Tuesday Evening – thank you to all the staff who supported the trip and I know from speaking to a few of the students who went that they had a fantastic time. Four other trips have gone out this week, Spanish, English and the Mock COP 28 Conference.
The REITH lectures are broadcast each year on Radio 4 is something that I always look forward to as it provides expert analysis and original thinking around key concepts and ideas that impact humanity. This year the lectures are being given by Professor Ben Ansell and are around politics and democracy in the 21st century. You can access this year's and previous years' lectures HERE
There a just a few free tickets left for our first ever Musical Theatre Showcase! on Thursday 14 December at 7 - 8.45pm in the Main Hall. Students from Year 7-13 have been rehearsing multiple musical numbers from 'Nicest Kids in Town', 'Six' to 'Fabulous Baby'. Miss Annesley has thoroughly enjoyed working with such talented students throughout the year groups and seeing all age groups come together to put on such a special show! A huge thanks to Mia in Year 9 for her assistance on choreography for the number 'I Hope I Get it' and Henry in Year 11 for taking lead on lighting.

KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE ONLINE THIS CHRISTMAS
With the Christmas festivities just around the corner, children are looking forward to receiving gifts. For many, this may be devices that allow you to go online. Even with the best intentions, many parents have a false sense of how to keep their child secure, or think their child is more secure than they actually are. This free resource HERE from RBWM partner Safety Net may be of use.
