Geographical Association’s Worldwise Quiz
After a couple of weeks 're-geoging' their memory during 2nd breaks, six students, Luke, Jay, Ashton, Bethany, Eddie and Timo, were ready to represent Charters School at the Geographical Association’s Worldwise quiz. This event was held on Wednesday 29 November at the Holt School in Wokingham.
Ten teams represented five schools from across Berkshire, facing university style questions on a wide range of geographical topics including world leaders and landmarks. After a couple of nail-biting rounds Charters' two teams ended up placing forth and second with only 12 points separating forth and first place.
The students had an enjoyable time and told us about the trip, saying "On Wednesday this week The Holt School in Wokingham hosted the annual Worldwise quiz. After weeks of planning and preparation two Charters teams of three (one from Year 10, 9 and 8) faced ten other teams in a two-hour quiz. Charters placed 2nd and 4th beating both Holt teams but just lost to Reading School. It was a great time with many engaging rounds of questions. We met many keen geographers and finished the day with a photo holding Waddleton (the Charters mascot). Also the cookies were delicious."
Miss Stockwell and Miss Barrett would like to congratulate all those who took part for their fantastic effort, as would we!
