NEWSLETTER - 25 OCTOBER 2024
The end of half term is here, some will be happy to hear and maybe some not so. The half term has seen many events and trips take place throughout, and during this last week students in Year 8 visited Wellington College while Year 10 students were in deepest darkest Monmouthshire on a Jamie’s Farm visit for the week. In addition, the Music department's first chamber concert of the school year saw over 20 students playing a range of instruments and for the first time in a while, the saxophone made an appearance which was great to see.
We heard this week that one of our Year 11 students has been selected to represent Great Britain against Spain in American Football, well done Charlie for all your hard work and effort to get the selection.
The Year 11 cohort have been through their mock interview process this week with members of the local business community coming into school to put them through their paces. This alongside their pre public exams (PPEs) when they come back after half term should really tell them they are getting towards the business end of their time in Key Stage 4.
It has been great to see that over the course of this half term there has been 49,250 achievement points issued which is an average of 28 per student in the 8 weeks we have been at school this term. There have been 4040 behaviour points issued which is an average of 2 per student. We would clearly like there to be no behaviour points, but I think we can all agree that the ratio here is very positive. Well, done to all who have been working so hard and have made an excellent start to the academic year.
I wish you all a restful half term and look forward to seeing the students again on the 11 November.

For the Christmas picture we would like students to design (paint/create) a Christmas-themed picture showing the spirit of goodwill at Christmas and to be representative of the School, this will be used by Mr Fletcher in his Christmas correspondence.
The ‘All Year’ picture is also to be used by Mr Fletcher and will be used in correspondence to students and staff and other contacts and should clearly show the school motto of UNITY RESPECT EXCELLENCE
This is open for all students, all key stages. The deadline for entries to be submitted by Teams Assignment is Tuesday 12 November at 9 am (please send a photo and keep the original which we will ask to see if your picture is chosen). Good Luck!
