News round up (4)

This week's assemblies taken by Mr Espenson have focussed on Holocaust Memorial Day 2025 Theme For a Better Future.  The assemblies have been very moving for all, the week also marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau on 27th January 1945 by Russian soldiers.  The services held across the world and in particular the service at Auschwitz-Birkenau were powerful and reminders that allyship and standing up against hatred in any form is something that we all must do. In doing so we will have a better future.

Congratulations to Ariana in Year 11 who has been selected alongside with 15 other students across the country to work with Dame Rachel De Sousa ., The Children's Commissioner, as a Youth Ambassador.  This is an exciting opportunity for Ariana and one that will help shape policy around the support that young people across the country receive.   The following link helps explain the role and contains the link for applications for next year.

All of Year 9 have had an enrichment activity this week around the key stage 3 music curriculum with support from Inspire Works UK who gave a lesson playing steel pans to give a Caribbean vibe to school on a wet, cold and windy week.

Year 11 were off Timetable today for the Strategies for Success, having talks from outside speakers and school staff on how best to prepare for their GCSEs coming up this summer.  We hope they found it useful.  Thank you to the Sunninghill Trust who kindly provided the funding for the external speakers.
