HIGHLIGHTS

OFSTED REPORT

I would like to thank everyone in the community who is so supportive of the staff and what we are trying to achieve for our young people.  Our Sixth Form in particular was highly praised by the inspection team for not only the academic outcomes of the students but the holistic education they receive, which is also a culmination of 7 years of education for many of our students showing what a fantastic experience they have across their time with us.

FOOTBALL

Congratulation to the Under 18 Boys Football team who have won the County Cup for their age group, beating Windsor Boys on penalties. You can read more via the news link below.

Also well done to the Year 7 and Year 8 Boys teams and the U16 Girls team that have made it to their age group finals - amazing achievements.

GETTING READY FOR NEXT TERM...

Student Behaviour

The overwhelming majority of our students are wonderful and I thank them and you as parents for your support.  Staff do appreciate the emails of thanks they receive from parents, not just for the work they do in the classroom but also for the work they do with extra curricula.

Sadly there are some students and parents who are having a disproportionate impact on other students and staff.   As parents can I ask that you speak to your son/daughter about the importance of talking to us about any concerns they may have and also about the importance of accepting responsibility for their actions.

Staff are becoming increasingly exhausted in having to deal with emails from parents supporting their children when they are not aware of the whole situation and are just hearing it from one party involved.

Jewellery and Nails

Nail varnish or acrylic nails/nail extensions of any type are not permitted

Single small study earrings in each ear only - eyebrow and nose piercing are not permitted.

Students saying they cannot remove them is not acceptable as they know the rules.

As parents please do not support your children in the breaking of these school rules, it creates unnecessary points of contention between staff and parents alike.

We have these rules as school is not a fashion show, it is the same reason we have a school uniform.  You may be fundamentally opposed to school uniforms but we have one and we expected it to be worn correctly.

Failure to follow these rules will lead to sanctions.

Equipment

Please make sure that your sons/daughters have the correct equipment to be successful at school.

LEAVING SCHOOL BEFORE 3PM

Contact us in advance

If you need to collect your child before the end of the school day e.g. for an orthodontist appointment, please either

Email: attendance@chartersschool.org.uk

Or Phone: 01344 298712

For Sixth Form absence: email sixthattendance@chartersschool.org.uk

Meet your child in reception.

We cannot allow students out to find you unless you have given your permission in writing for them to walk off site.

Please let us know about the absence when you book the appointment; it doesn’t have to be the day before, and we can log it on your child’s register.

This is for safeguarding purposes. So both you, as parents, and we, who are expecting your child in lessons, know where they are and that they are safe.

It will also ease their exit from class, as the note will appear on their class register, and then to move through to reception to meet you.

YEAR 11 LEAVERS - PE KIT DONATIONS

Calling all parents of Year 11s - if your Year 11 no longer needs their PE kit and you are not planning to keep it for younger siblings, the PE Department have asked if it could be brought in by students (when in for exams or clinics) and dropped into the PE office so that it can be use as spare PE kit for younger students. Many thanks.

DONATION OF OTHER SECOND HAND UNIFORM

Instagram template (40)

Following the roaring success of our last collection of second hand uniform, we will again be taking in donations for our Second Hand Uniform stall at our forthcoming Summer Festival.

We will be collecting donations on Friday 23 June from 8am - 8.30am and 2.45pm -3.15pm. To make it as easy as we can for people to donate to this initiative, volunteers will be waiting to receive clothing in the wooden shelter adjacent to the Leisure Centre car park during these times. If you bring your child to school by car and would like to donate, please use the car park off Devenish Road so that items can be left either before or after school.

If your child makes their way to school on foot or via the school bus, please ask them to deliver the items to the shelter before they go to registration.

Please do not send in items to the Main Reception

There are just a couple of things that we ask:

  • Please only donate items you would be happy for your own child to wear
  • Donated items must be clean and ironed (on hangers would be helpful but not essential)

We would also happily receive school shoes (Formal plain, flat, black shoes that can be polished) and trainers that are in good condition (you know how quickly children grow!).

We very much hope that having the stall at the Summer Festival will help our school community save a little money whilst also helping to protect our planet. Thank you for your support.

ASSOCIATE STAFF VACANCIES

We have a new Associate Staff vacancy for a Student Service Receptionist and First Aider.

For further details and to apply, please see the Vacancies page on the school website.

COMMUNITY

SUPPORTING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE'S MENTAL WELLBEING

At this time of year, with additional pressures such as exams, it may be helpful to remind you of the many local and national resources available for children and young people who may be vulnerable. This additional support is specialist, to help them better manage their emotional reactions and feelings to avoid critical incidents happening.  RBWM Achieving for Children have produced an information document which can be viewed here.

FOOD BANK - EVERY TUESDAY

Food
12:00-1:00PM
SHARE Hope Church, Sunningdale
High Street, Sunningdale, SL5 7LY (next to Nag’s Head Pub)

Hate food waste? Come along to Hope Church Sunningdale FOOD BANK, open to ANYONE. We have mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) It would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.

We operate a  one (standard size) shopping bag per family policy and use ticketing system to stagger entrance to the food bank. We ask that you enter through the side door. Tea/coffee/biscuits are available from 11:15 and during the food bank. Entrance tickets will be distributed just before the food bank opens at 12:00. We may need to limit some items so there is enough to share with everyone.
