NEWSLETTER - 7th FEBRUARY 2025
This week has seen the school production rocking the Main Hall. After months of rehearsals, hard work and dedications the show has been performed in front of audiences. The last full dress rehearsal was performed in front of school children from our local primary schools. They were jigging along to the musical numbers and left smiling having seen a great performance. Thank you to all the staff and parents involved in making it happen, in particular a massive thank you to Mrs Ring and Ms Annesley for all their extra hours at weekends and in the evenings to get the show to the standard it is. I am sure that the students have enjoyed the whole experience form start to finish working together as a team to over come setbacks, sharing ideas that in the end has led to a high quality production. Read the full story in our news posts below.
Congratulations to Bethany in Year 9 and Jacob in Year 10 who competed at the Welsh National Indoor Championships last weekend. BRONZE & GOLD SUCCESS
Year 9 Bethany and Year 10 Jacob competed at the Welsh Indoor Championships last weekend and the competition was very competitive! It was no mean feat to progress through each stage of their events to get to the final races, but both managed to do just that.
Bethany ran in both the 60 and 200M sprints, taking 11 seconds off her PB in the 60M and coming away with a bronze medal. The 200M event saw 44 athletes competing over 11 heats for only four spots in the final! Bethany was triumphant winning her second bronze medal, and getting name-checked as one to watch in the Welsh Athletics Preview.
Jacob also had a great weekend, winning gold in the Under 15 Hurdles and making the final of the 60M, with a new PB in both. Our students' athletic achievements were not only watched by their proud parents but also by 110M Olympic Hurdles Silver Medallist Colin Jackson who was caught on video spectating from the stands!
A huge well done to both Bethany and Jacob, it sounds like it was a super competitive competition.
A big congratulations to Harry in Year 11 who has been selected as a reserve to represent Berkshire at the English Schools Cross-Country Championships in March! This follows his performance over the weekend at the SE Inter County Schools XC Championships where he positioned 64th for U17 Boys, representing Berkshire. Well done – this is a fantastic achievement!”

We would also like to thank the companies that placed adverts in the programme. Their support helped us generate valuable funds for the production.

CAN YOU HELP?
We are looking for volunteers to help support our Year 12 students during their Post 18 Pathways Day.
The event runs from 8.30am to 11.00am on Wednesday 4th June 2025 and we are looking for individuals to speak for 10-15 minutes to each of our eight Tutor groups.
You may be able to talk about what life was like as a new undergraduate; dealing with finances, cooking and washing for the first time! Maybe you secured an apprenticeship and could share your experience of how it felt to 'earn while you learn'. Or did you embark on a career after sitting your A Levels?
We are keen to show our students that there are many paths to take Post 18, and hearing from those who have trodden those paths will give our students a valuable insight as they consider their next step in life.
Please complete this form so that we can get in touch with you as we plan the event.
Thank you for your help.
