Know Yourself, Grow Yourself

Children's Mental Health Week is taking place from 3rd to 9th February, and schools and colleges across the country are shining a light on to how students can become more self-aware of their emotions.
Managing our own feelings, and being able to recognise the emotions of our peers, is something that is vitally important for good mental health.
Students in our Learning Support Centre are currently working through a programme entitled Zones of Regulation, a framework that helps students develop self-regulation skills by categorising emotions and states of alertness into four colour-coded zones: Blue (sad/tired), Green (calm/focused), Yellow (frustrated/excited), and Red (angry/out of control).
By recognising their current zone, students learn strategies to manage emotions, improve focus, and make positive behaviour choices.
initiative empowers students with essential skills to navigate their emotions, fostering a supportive and understanding school environment.
