News round up (4)

This week saw a series of music assemblies.  Students performed a variety of pieces to the different year groups gaining vital performance experiences, while the audience experienced a wide range of music genres from classical to jazz, through to a Barbershop Quartet.  Still on a music theme, Year 8 had a Samba Drumming workshop early in the week to help bring warmth to a cold week.

The Year 9 Boys Football team won on penalties again at Winston Churchill School in the 4th round of the National Cup...could we have a cup wining streak coming?  We will keep you posted.

Thank you to all who have responded to the Smart Phone Questionnaire that was sent out - we have had over 450 responses.  A particular thank you to the parents and carers who have provided contact details.  Once we have analysed the feedback, we will share the results with you.

Finally, we have had six trips go out this week from students going to see ‘An Inspector Calls’ to watching the Surrey 89ers basketball team play.  Thank you to all the staff who gave up their evenings and weekends to help these trips take place.

It has been an eventful week in the music department. Every day this week the students who study music have been performing for each year group during their assemblies. You can read the full story here.

As well as assemblies, Year 8 students experienced samba band workshops from InspireWorks. These workshops, delivered each year to KS3 students, are an important part of the curriculum. They give students the opportunity to perform a different style of music as well as learning about the musical cultural of a different country. The students enjoyed the workshop immensely and created some excellent music.
