NEWSLETTER - 22 SEPTEMBER

HIGHLIGHTS

It was wonderful to see so many young people receiving awards and certificates this week at the two Celebrations of Achievement events.  Our guest speaker Eve Beasley, Head of Transformation at the British Red Cross and former Charters student gave a very interesting and powerful speech based around the character traits confidence, resilience and integrity.

Samba music sounds wafting through the school on Tuesday and Wednesday was another highlight, unfortunately we didn’t have the weather to go with the joyous rhythm that comes with Samba music.  This week Year 8, Year 9 and the GCSE Music groups had a Samba experience with an external Samba teacher as part of their music lessons.   The students showed real curiosity in their questions and also motivation in learning the rhythm.

INFORMATION EVENINGS

It has been fantastic to welcome so many parents and carers to the series of Information Evenings that have been running for each year group over the past fortnight. The feedback has been very positive and hopefully the information will be useful to support students on their learning journey, whichever year group they are in.

We do know that our parents and carers are very busy and that you might not have been able to attend the live event. We have recorded the meetings and you can find the slides and recordings here. We are currently looking at the questions that were asked remotely, and once that document is complete, then responses to these questions will be uploaded to the same area on the website.

Finally, a reminder, the Year 7 Curriculum Evening will run next Thursday, 28 September, in the Main School Hall. Parents and Carers should have already received information regarding this , and we are looking forward to welcoming you into the school at 5.30pm.

NOTICES

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER

The school photographer visited the school on 11 and 12 September.

If you have not registered the QR code that was given to the students on these days, they will be given the proofs of their images next week.

The proof contains a unique code which will allow parents/carers to view the image and make a purchase.

UNIFROG PARENT/CARER ACCESS CODE

As we do each year we are inviting parents/carers to sign up to Unifrog our online careers package, this is a great way of supporting your child with decisions about their next steps and future plans.

Parents and carers can access the introductory letter with the Parent/carer sign up code to Unifrog which is valid until Friday 20 October and the Introductory PP which you might also find helpful.

There is also a short introductory video here

YEAR 11 MOCK INTERVIEW PREPARATION

As part of their Personal Development Lessons Year 11 started their preparation for their Mock Interviews this week supported by Local Business Volunteers.  Our volunteers who also form part of our Mock Interviewing Team will be working with us over the next two weeks.  Students were given great advice by the experts as they started to create their CVs using Unifrog our online careers package.
