HIGHLIGHTS
It was wonderful to see so many staff dressed up for World Book Day (a day late). There is a house competition running for students to guess the books and the characters.
Year 11 Food Technology students were completing their final examination pieces this week, the smells wafting from the rooms have been amazing. I know that the staff who popped in and were lucky enough to taste the food were very impressed. I hope they have been practising at home for you all to benefit from their skills.
UNACCEPTABLE LANGUAGE
We are becoming concerned about a number of incidents we are dealing with where students are saying inappropriate words to each other around ethnic background, religion or gender. It is clear to all that this is unacceptable and there is no excuse for it at all.
SUMMER FESTIVAL
Thank you to all who have offered to volunteer at our Summer Festival. It may be months away but please do save the date as it's going to be a wonderful event and will celebrate our school's 65th birthday.
We've had lots of interest in our marketplace. If you would like to secure a £40 pitch, please complete and return this application form by 30 March and read our T&Cs.
It could be just the place for your business to increase its exposure in the community.

NOTICES
NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK
National Careers Week (NCW) takes place from 6 - 10 March and we have an array of visitors and events planned throughout the week. As we approach this annual one-week celebration of careers guidance in education we wanted to share a parents guide to National Careers Week, which can be viewed below:
Parents Guide to National Careers Week
WORLD BOOK DAY
There’s something particularly powerful about the way words can transport you to faraway places in your imagination & block out the real world, if only for a while, but reading does so much more than that…
Discover what our students learnt during World Book Day assemblies by viewing this PowerPoint
BIG BOOK SWAP
Don't forget to bring along a book for our BIG BOOK SWAP at Yr9 Parents’ Evening on 9 March. We are encouraging people to bring along a book they have read & choose a new one to go home with! This is just one way we are nurturing a reading for pleasure culture at Charters.
COMMUNITY
The Sunninghill Community Wheelbarrow Race which will be held this year on Bank Holiday Monday 01 May.
This is an annual charity event which is organised by the local community of Sunninghill and the Rotary Club of Ascot.
They have chosen once again to support the Ascot District Day Centre (which is not government funded) and provides a vital service to the elderly in the area who need a little bit of extra help and social company to enjoy their lives.
There are various trophies to be won on the day:
Fastest Men’s Team
Fastest Women’s Team
Fastest Mixed Team
Best Fancy Dressed Team
Best Fancy Dressed Family Team
Highest Sponsored Team
