Students' Sporting Success
Personal Development provides our students with opportunities to grow as active, healthy and engaged citizens, supported by the school ethos of Unity Respect Excellence. It is wonderful to hear about two students who are developing their personal skills through sport.
Year 11 student Marli, recently competed successfully at the National Athletics Championships at Sheffield in the 60m Hurdles. Although she was hoping to run faster than she did as she clipped a hurdle, she still ran under the National qualifying time of 10 seconds.
Josh, who is currently studying in Year 12, ran at the Saucony English National Cross Country Final at Bolesworth Castle and came 24th out of 247 runners in the Boys U17s. He was the first finisher for his district team, helping to secure fourth place overall for himself and his teammates.
Students learn in Personal Development lessons that looking after their wellbeing is really important, and often sport is a great way of managing stress and anxiety. Congratulations to Josh and Marli who are clearly doing well in their chosen sports, and we look forward to hearing about their future successes.
