HIGHLIGHTS...
The school team taking part in the Regional Final of the Mock Trials Magistrates Competition performed very well but unfortunately have not progressed to the next round. The cases they mooted were complex and they showed a high level of skills to unpick the legal arguments. Nothing ventured , nothing gained as they say. This year the team went one stage further in the competition so let's hope they do the same next year.
This week has seen the school's Pride Society lead on assemblies. It has been interesting to hear the points they raised and how they raised these points in such an articulate and thought-provoking way.
Another highlight is the Sixth Form Boys Football team in the County Cup Final being played this evening, Friday 19 May – good luck to them.
SUMMER FESTIVAL
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Our Summer Festival is only a couple of months away and we are still on the lookout for volunteers to help make the day a success. If you are able to spare an hour on Saturday 15 July, we have just the job for you! There will be things to set up, stalls to man or the essential clearing away after the event - if you can lend a hand, we would really appreciate your help.
Maybe you have a group of friends who can all pitch in together, the more the merrier. If you’d like to get involved, meet other parents and support the school, we’d love to hear from you. Just drop the Marketing Team a line.
PRIZE DONATIONS
We have already received a whole host of goodies for the event from generous local businesses which we will be using for our gift tree, raffle and silent auction. If you know a local business that would like to raise its profile to a wider audience and could donate an item or voucher that we could use, please do get in touch.
You can view the list of donations already received here and can contact the Marketing Team should you wish to donate a prize.
Thank you so much for your support, we hope to make our 65th birthday celebration a community event to remember.

NOTICES
WALKING TO AND FROM SCHOOL
Can you please remind reinforce the message to be careful when walking home. We have had a number of concerned motorist raise issues around groups walking in the road because the pavements are narrow and also just walking across junctions and driveways with out looking. Thank you
UNIVERSAL CREDIT
Families who are on Universal Credit may well qualify for social tariffs on broadband. Further information can be found here: OFCOM
As always if families are struggling please do get in contact with us as we may be able to help through our UNITY FUND for items that can support your child’s learning.
VALUABLE ITEMS IN SCHOOL
We have a number of items of silver, gold and costume jewellery, AirPods and earphones, watches, and keys that have been handed in to our Lost Property over the last year and have remained unclaimed.
If there is an item that has gone missing and could have been dropped around the school grounds over the last year, please get in touch.
Please contact Student Services at studentservices@chartersschool.org.uk with a description or photo of the item and we will see if we can return anything to its rightful owner!
Please note that any items that are not collected will be donated to the Brain Tumour Research charity to raise vital, life saving funds for a worthwhile charity.
TRAFFIC AROUND SCHOOL DURING PICKUP
Inconsiderate parking at pick up time has been again brought to our attention. We are fortunate to have the drop off area at the front of school and the large area at the back of school for people to pick up, yet still unreasonable parking continues to be a problem.
The drop off area at the front of school is becoming increasingly congested due to people being inconsiderate. The outside lane is to allow cars to pass, it is not to park in. Parking in this lane causes even more congestion to build up on Charters Road. If this lane is kept clear we will have a better flow of traffic for everyone.
If you picking up a child and you are unsure of the time they will come out then please go to the back of the school where there is a better flow of traffic and also spaces to park.
Can we please ensure that we are considerate to all including the staff on duty.
Even better, it would be helpful for students to walk whenever possible.

FOOD BANK - EVERY TUESDAY
12:00-1:00PM
SHARE Hope Church, Sunningdale
High Street, Sunningdale, SL5 7LY (next to Nag’s Head Pub)
Hate food waste? Come along to Hope Church Sunningdale FOOD BANK, open to ANYONE. We have mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) It would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
We operate a one (standard size) shopping bag per family policy and use ticketing system to stagger entrance to the food bank. We ask that you enter through the side door. Tea/coffee/biscuits are available from 11:15 and during the food bank. Entrance tickets will be distributed just before the food bank opens at 12:00. We may need to limit some items so there is enough to share with everyone.
