NEWSLETTER - 5 MAY

HIGHLIGHTS

Students in Year 10 have been presenting the projects they have been writing as part of their Higher Project Qualification (HPQ).  The students have to research and write an extended essay on a subject of their choice and then present their findings to a small group.  This really helps advance students academic understanding, study skills and also confidence in presenting to groups. This year there have been a wide range of topics from: To what extent can recent technologies clean the ocean? to What is the biggest threat to NATO? with much more in-between.  Well done to the all students who have taken part and to Mrs Phipps and team for supporting them. A full list of essays can be found here.

YEAR 7 PARENTS' EVENING

It was lovely to see so many parents in school yesterday for the Year 7 Parents' Evening.  In the conversations I had with parents it was great to hear their feedback on the evening but also how well their children have settled into school life.

DONATIONS FOR BOTTLE TOMBOLA

VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS DRAW

A big thank you to all who donated a bottle at yesterday's Year 7 Parents' Evening, these will be used for the Bottle Tombola stall at the Summer Festival on Saturday 15 July.  If you would still like to make a donation, alcoholic beverages can be handed in at the Main Reception.  Non-alcoholic bottles can be brought in by students, these could include children's blowing bubbles, toiletries, sauces or oils.

There is no pressure to donate but we really appreciate any contributions.

HAYFEVER

We are certainly moving into hayfever season, so can we please ask that students who need to take medication please do so in the morning at home.  We are not allowed to give antihistamines without parental permission, so please make sure that your children have the correct dose before that come in.  They cannot bring their own hayfever medication supply into school.  If medication needs to be held in school, please follow our normal procedures for this process and contact the Main Office.

FOOD BANK - EVERY TUESDAY

Food
12:00-1:00PM
SHARE Hope Church, Sunningdale
High Street, Sunningdale, SL5 7LY (next to Nag’s Head Pub)

Hate food waste? Come along to Hope Church Sunningdale FOOD BANK, open to ANYONE. We have mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) It would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.

We operate a  one (standard size) shopping bag per family policy and use ticketing system to stagger entrance to the food bank. We ask that you enter through the side door. Tea/coffee/biscuits are available from 11:15 and during the food bank. Entrance tickets will be distributed just before the food bank opens at 12:00. We may need to limit some items so there is enough to share with everyone.
