News round up (4)

Science week has been in full swing over the last 5 days, with Dr Herbert leading assemblies looking at this year's theme, Adapt and Overcome. Throughout the week, there has been an ongoing competition to design the best paper aeroplane to sustain the longest flight.  I must admit I was concerned that we would be awash with planes across the school.  This has not been the case, I am glad to report.  Winners will be notified in due course by the department.  Well done to all who have taken part.

Over this week, we have focused on punctuality in our lessons across the school.  It has been positive to see that 95% of the school population have been in lessons on time, clearly, we would like this to be 100%.  If students are more than 5 minutes late to their lessons, they have not been allowed to enter. We have had a maximum of 9 students that this has impacted.  Out of a school population of over 1700, this is encouraging.  We will continue this focus over the forthcoming week.

We had the fantastic news this week that Finlay Cunnison, a former student, has signed a professional contract with Harlequins and has been selected for the England U18 Rugby squad.  We wish Finlay all the best as he progresses in his rugby career.

MESSAGE FROM THE PE DEPARTMENT

We are currently missing several school football shirts and pieces of kit which have been taken home after fixtures and not returned, meaning we do not have full sets available for upcoming fixtures. Please could we kindly ask both parents and students to check at home for any school football kit that may have been taken home?

If you find any items, they can be returned either to the main reception or directly to the PE office with the students dropping it off.
