NEWSLETTER - 28th FEBRUARY 2025
The MFL department has shared with me some of the homework completed by some Year 7 students this week, it filled me with joy to see the enthusiasm and wonderful language skills demonstrated by the students showing a real commitment to their learning. The students showed their creative side as well as their language skills. well done, all. You can see the post on our social media platforms.
The Year 10 GCSE field trip to Southampton took place over this this week, with students going to the south coast to use the skills they have learnt in the classroom out in the field. The weather was kind to them for the most of time, but it's not a field trip without wind and rain after all so they had the full experience. The trip forms part of the GCSE course as students have to understand different fieldwork techniques as well as analyse the data collected.
This week has also seen the completion of the Sixth Form interviews for entry in September 2025. The students, both internal and external, have been very impressive, and we wish them all the very best in their GCSEs. Our Year 11s are in the middle of their final PPEs before their exams start in the summer.
MOBILE PHONES & SOCIAL MEDIA
We are concerned regarding the number of incidents we are dealing with in school that involve the inappropriate use of Mobile phones both in school and outside of school. These are not only having a significant impact on the well-being of students, which is impacting their learning, but are also taking up an inordinate amount of staff time in unpicking incidents which have either started through social media or through comments being made on SNAPCHAT.
It is my view that we need to review our Mobile Phone Policy to ensure that it is fit for purpose and addresses the new issues we are seeing. Thank you to all the parents who completed the survey before Christmas. This has provided us with valuable information that we are using as part of this process.

The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.
The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
Hope Church, Sunningdale, The Hope Centre, High Street Sunningdale, (next to Nag’s Head).
