NEWSLETTER - 16 SEPTEMBER

The school will be closed on Monday 19 September for the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.  We will be open as usual on Tuesday 20 September.

HIGHLIGHTS

We are now back into the full swing of school life and it is tremendous to see the extensive Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) programme up and running again alongside students in the classroom engaged in their learning.  As a school we have a focus at the start of term of getting students back into the routines of learning and being part of the community through attending ECAs.  I asked a student in Year 9 how the start of term had gone and their reply was ‘Stupendous!’ I am not sure I would get the same response from everyone but it was lovely to hear.

We were informed that one of our Year 11 students, Matilde,  has been selected for the England U16 Female Golf Squad and will be playing against Ireland in early October at the Royal Birkdale course in Southport Merseyside.  We wish her and the England team all the best.   Mr Devine is wishing the Ireland team the same.

You can read Matilde's story, and those of our other sporty students Matt and Moya, in more detail via the News links below.

FIRE EVACUATION AND LOCK DOWN DRILL

Next week we will be carrying out a practise of our fire evacuation and lockdown procedures. This is an important part of our safeguarding systems in school.  On this occasion we will be giving students notice so we can walk through our procedures to ensure that all understand what they need to do and the expectations.

THANK YOU

To the English department for taking students to An Inspector Calls at The New Wimbledon Theatre.  A wonderful experience linked into their GCSE studies which helped the students understand the text in more detail.

If you wish to attend then please complete the form here: https://www.papyrus-uk.org/training/r4-sp-ark-charters-school/  If you book onto this, the link will be sent out to you 24 hours before the session. We want to continuing developing our provision at Charters and supporting our students and so as always if you have any concerns about your child, or they wish to speak to someone, emailing worried@chartersschool.org.uk is a great place to access support.
