Matt Selected for England Amputee World Cup
Matt Dean, who left Charters in July 2021 and is currently studying medicine at the University of Oxford, has been selected to represent England in this year's Amputee Football World Cup which is taking place in Turkey from 1 - 9 October.
England is one of 24 countries in this year's competition with games being played in a range of venues including the Nef Stadyumu (home of @GalatasaraySK), Vodaphone Park (home of @Besiktas) and Kocaeli Stadyumu (home of @Kocaelispor).
England are in Group C with Argentina, USA and Indonesia with the first game being against USA on October 1.
The squad has been preparing for the last couple of years with training intensifying significantly in the last few months to include monthly training weekends and a pre World Cup Tournament in Poland (the AmpFutbol Cup) which saw England reach the final.
We wish Matt every success for the tournament and will keep our wider community up-to-date on England's progress.
