News round up (4)

On Wednesday 22 January Mr Metson and a group of Sixth Form students who took part in the national webinar that broadcast a live interview with a Holocaust survivor Mala Tribich, 89.  Her story of what she endured, the resilience shown and how important it is to be optimistic, was inspirational to hear.

During the week, Year 10 students visited London Colney, the training ground of Arsenal FC, to help members of the Under 18 team by being 'the students' while they  were assessed for their coaching license.  This is now the third time that students from Charters have been invited along to take part in these sessions. We are invited back each time because the students’ behaviour is outstanding and they are a joy to coach as they listen and also support each other.  The experience of being in a high performing environment is one that I am sure will stay with the students for a long time.

We are getting close to the school production and rehearsals are in their final stages and starting to come together.  Thank you to all who are helping out with late pick-ups, set constructions and moral support.  I am very much looking forward to seeing the production after all the hard work and dedication that has gone into it.  If you have not already done so, tickets can be purchased HERE.

It has been lovely to hear the impact that the Next Gen leader programme has had on those who are taking part. Sixth Formers work with individuals or small groups of students, supporting them in their studies and helping them to develop confidence and belief in their abilities. These small acts of giving up time to help the younger students in school is very much appreciated.

MORNING DROP-OFF AND AFTERNOON PICK-UP REMINDER

Parents are reminded to use the designated drop-off areas during morning and afternoon school times. To ensure sufficient parking availability for staff, it is important that parents drop off students and promptly leave the site without waiting. The same applies when picking up students in the afternoon. Staying on-site unnecessarily causes congestion and prevents staff from accessing parking spaces they require. Your cooperation in this matter is vital to keeping the car park functional and our staff and students safe. Thank you for your understanding.

SUNNINGDALE VILLAGE HALL CHARITY
NOTICE TILES (5)

The Village Hall has been an important community space for over 100 years – home to the Pre-School, provider of affordable space for a wide range of leisure and recreational activities for people of all ages and abilities, from party central for children (of all ages), to polling station, with puppy classes thrown into the mix for good measure. You name it – the Village Hall is up for it.

But – the Village Hall is a charity and its continued existence very much depends on a dedicated group of volunteers – the Trustees – who are willing to give their time, their enthusiasm, and their life skills to ensure the Village Hall continues to thrive well into the future.

The Trustee Board, wishes to recruit an additional Trustee, ideally one who has a financial background to volunteer a few hours per month. If you value the role the Village Hall plays in the heart of our community and would like to find out more about what being a Trustee entails, please get in touch – we would love to hear from you.

You can email the Trustee Board at: admin@svhcommunity.co.uk
