Spotlight on... Careers Advisor
As National Careers Week takes place in March, this month's 'Spotlight on...' features our Careers Advisor, Ms Kalsi.
WHAT DOES YOUR JOB INVOLVE?
My job (which I love!) involves providing impartial careers advice to help young people make realistic choices about their future education and training options. I support students in exploring their abilities, interests, skills, and strengths, advising them on how to research different career pathways.
During our one-to-one meetings, we work together to set goals and create an Action Plan, which I then write up to send to the school to pass on to the student. My aim is to help students reach their full potential.
WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR ROLE?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is making a positive impact on the futures of all the young people I work with by helping them achieve their education and career goals.
WHAT DO YOU FIND THE MOST CHALLENGING?
The most challenging part of my job is trying to find solutions to everything, especially for those unsure about their future goals. However, I aim to give it my all to ensure that a young person walks away fully equipped to continue their research.
WHAT IS THE THING YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF ACHIEVING SINCE JOINING CHARTERS?
Since working with Charters School, I am proud to have met and inspired over 1000 young adults.
Thank you for making me feel so welcome!
