It's Fun and Games for Media Students!

Who says revision is boring?! In preparation for their upcoming exams, Year 13 students were treated to an ingenious way of revision last week.  Mrs Wium's Year 13 Media Studies class had a Media Theory Games lesson, revising the 19 theorists in their programme of study.  

During the interactive group revision session, students enjoyed using classic games to refresh their knowledge and help each other go over the revision topics. 

There was a lively game of Bingo (matching descriptions of the theories with the names on their Bingo cards), Charades (acting out different theories), 'Who said that?' (identifying quotes from different theorists), and a highly successful 'Match the Theorist' speed test, in which pairs of students had to match relevant theories to their set texts and explain how the text supported or contradicted the theories.

The class wholeheartedly engaged with the session and not only reinforced their learning of the subject but also had a lot of fun along the way.  Victory was celebrated with sweet prizes and a renewed understanding of Media Theory!

Mrs Wium said that the students had enjoyed tackling their revision from a different perspective and supporting each other.
