International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Over the last month, students at Charters School have been working on their entries for the Show Racism the Red Card competition. Through this competition students have creatively expressed anti-racist ideas using a range of media including artwork, poetry and music.
In total, we had over 60 entries in school with most students designing T- Shirts or football boots. The winning entries for the school were those with most meaningful anti-racist messages. This competition provided an effective method of getting students to galvanise around anti-racist messaging and demonstrate unity, which is one of our core values at Charters school.
This is particularly relevant this week as we celebrate the International Day for the Eradication of Racial Discrimination. March 21st is the day instituted by the United Nations to encourage people across the globe to stand up against racism in view of the injustices faced by people who have been victims of racism and the continuing challenges faced by these people.
Charters school is committed to supporting this cause, not just today but every day so everyone in our immediate school community can feel a sense of belonging.
Our thanks to Mrs Grant-Miller for all her hard work in highlighting the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and for organising our students' entries to the Show Racism the Red Card competition.
