In celebration of International Women's Day, we wanted to highlight our work to challenge misogyny and sexism. Through engaging workshops and creative collaborations, we are challenging harmful gender stereotypes so that every student feels valued.

In February 2023, we were honoured to host educator and activist Peter Radford for an enlightening workshop with our senior students in Years 11, 12 and 13. These sessions delved into pressing issues like systemic discrimination, sexual harassment, and the portrayal of women in the media. A key focus was empowering students to critically assess and challenge the narratives presented by online influencers who perpetuate harmful stereotypes.

Building on this momentum, in July 2024, Peter returned to engage with our Year 10 students. Peter led heartfelt discussions on topics such as power dynamics, consent, and the impact of unconscious bias, encouraging students to reflect on their own experiences and beliefs. His passion for justice and personal stories resonated deeply, inspiring our students to become advocates for change.

But our commitment to promoting inclusivity and respect extends beyond workshops. In November 2023, we partnered with the talented theatre company Narrative Alchemy to present a thought-provoking play to our younger students in Years 7, 8, and 9. The performance shed light on both subtle and overt forms of sexism, sparking meaningful conversations and encouraging students to support one another in standing against discrimination.
