House Assemblies
This week, students throughout the school took part in House assemblies. Bulldogs, Eagles and Panthers from Years 7-13 came together for assemblies to celebrate their House achievements so far this academic year, and to hear about the House quizzes, competitions and fundraisers they can look forward to this term which include:
- 'Being Me' Photography Competition - Submissions by Thursday 27th February
Reflect on who you are, and what you do by submitting a self-portrait to this House Competition. More details here. - Foodbank Collection - Monday 27th - Wednesday 29th January
Donations of non-perishable foods (tins, dry foods etc.). - Valentine Bake Sale - Friday 14th February
Make a cake - Bring into school for House Points - Buy a treat at 2nd break. - World Book Day - Week commencing 3rd March
Earn House Points by completing the reading book hunt. - Unity Day Mufti - Wednesday 23rd April
Celebrate the school's 67th birthday by wearing mufti and donating to our Unity Fund.
During the assemblies students heard where their Houses currently sit in the all important standings... Eagles are currently out in front, with Panthers in second place and Bulldogs bringing up the rear.
The work that students do every day in lessons and at home makes a massive impact on the overall House results, and the school's House system is a way for students to be recognised for embodying the character traits which underpin our values of Unity, Respect and Excellence.
During the assemblies the House Coordinator, Miss Stockwell, informed students that their House charities were each awarded £1044.20 in December as a results of funds generated through this year's House fundraising efforts. The three charities we are supporting this year are:
- Chat Club - (Bulldogs)
- Sebastian's Action Trust - (Eagles)
- Food 4 Children (Panthers)
The Bulldogs students, who adopted Chat Club as their chosen charity in September 2024, were told that the school has received a beautifully written letter of thanks from their previous House Charity, The Jane Metson Foundation. The Letter thanked students and staff for their support over the past ten years which generated £11,127 to help change the lives of people living in the UK and Africa.
We are looking forward to raising lots more money for the current House Charities this year, and can't wait to see which House will have the most points and top the podium in July!
