This week the Community Champions and managers of Tesco Forest Park, Tesco Warfield and Tesco Sunninghill visited Charters to present Mr Fletcher with a cheque for £1000, after the school was selected to take part in the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme.

The scheme gives community projects grants of up to £1,500 and Tesco customers customers vote to decide how much each project receives by placing a blue token into the cause which they would like to support.

Charters applied for a grant to support our Essential Parcels initiative and we were over the moon to receive £1,000! The funds will be used to provide store cupboard essentials for the most vulnerable families within our school, and is a real example of our school displaying our values of Unity Respect Excellence.

Amanda, one of Tesco's Community Champions said, "We are very proud to be able to support valuable community causes that deserve all the support we can give them through our Stronger Starts grants."

This Christmas we are working with Hope Church Food Share in Sunningdale, to help pack and allocate the parcels, another example of Charters School working in partnership with the local community.

A huge thank you to Tesco Stronger Starts and everyone who voted for us.

We are fortunate that Charters has successfully entered two more projects into the Stronger Starts scheme;one to support a Mindfulness project and the other for our Drop Everything and Read initiative. You can vote until the middle of January in the Egham, Staines and Ascot Tescos, so please tell your friends and family to keep posting those little blue tokens!
