Japan Trip
On Sunday 27 October, 35 (high spirited) students from Years 9 to 13, along with Miss Joel, Mr McNamara, Mr Elliott-Gentry and Mrs King set off from London Heathrow bound for Tokyo, Japan (via Doha, Qatar).
Peace Park Nagasaki
What followed was an intensive, 11 day, whistle-stop tour incorporating 4 major cities: Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto and Nagasaki, visiting countless amazing sites including Meiji Shrine, Shibuya Crossing, the Dawn Avatar Robot Cafe, Tokyo National Museum, Hakone, the SC Maglev & Railway Museum, Nagoya Castle, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park, Kinkakuji (the Golden Temple), Fushimi Inari Shrine (with endless red Torri Gates), Hashima Island (a location from 007 Skyfall), Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace Memorial Park!!
The students also visited the Kwassui Senior and Junior High school in Nagasaki where they spent a typical Japanese school day and presented the school with their very own Waddleton, our school mascot.
Below is an extract from the school's website which reported on our visit:
The panoramic view of Nagasaki from Mt. Inasa was the perfect way to end our school's awe-inspiring, culturally rich and life-changing experience.
Oh! ...and the food was pretty awesome too!
The students and staff who took part in this incredible trip would all like to say a huge thank you to Mr Greaves for instigating the trip. We know that the students did you, and all at Charters School proud.
