A Level Scientists Visit "A Level Live"
On Wednesday, a group of fifteen Year 12 and Year 13 Sixth Form students visited the Emmanuel Centre in London to take part in a series of lectures presented by well known Physicists, including Dr Helen Czerski, Dr Jessica Wade, and Prof. Jim Al-Khalili. The talks covered a wide range of topics including the oceans, quantum computing, the makeup of the early universe and time itself, and challenged students to consider some of the topics at the forefront of current Physics research.

Prof. Jim Al-Khalili is one of the scientists who is featured in the mural in our Science block, so it was wonderful that our students could hear first-hand from this eminent theoretical physicist.
Here is what some of our students thought of the event:
"It was very interesting to hear the guest speakers talk in depth about their respective areas of expertise."
"The trip was a chance to apply our understanding from A level Physics lessons to new and unfamiliar concepts, from highly theoretical work, like time, to more practical areas, like the physics of the ocean."
"A broad range of topics were covered, all the way from subatomic particles to the scale of the universe, which made the event very engaging and interesting throughout."
Our thanks to Mr Morgan-John for leading the trip and to our Sixth Form scientists who represented our school so beautifully.
