Before half term our PE YA students were fortunate to have a sports psychology talk given by former student Milly Routledge. The talk focused on understanding how mental health and wellbeing plays a pivotal role in sport.

Milly Routledge, MS, is a therapist and sports psychology consultant who works with athletes, teams, and coaches to improve mental performance and well-being. She left Charters Sixth Form in 2017 after completing her A Levels and is passionate about helping athletes balance their commitment to their sport with the need to prioritise self-care and maintain healthy relationships. In her work with coaches and teams, she provides strategies to enhance competitive performance and effectively address mental health challenges. Milly holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from Villanova University, where she also earned a B.A. in Psychology, graduating cum laude. She is an active speaker, promoting mental health awareness and community engagement.

A former standout athlete, Milly is the most decorated swimmer in Big East history, with 25 Big East championships to her name. She completed her career as a 5th-year student-athlete on the Villanova University Women’s Swimming & Diving team in 2022.
