Jamie's Farm
Next week selected students will embark on the first of our Key Stage 4 residential trips to Jamie's Farm. The trip is an opportunity for students to live away from home for 5 days, and receive mentoring and guidance from experienced professionals. The model is to help develop confidence, and give individuals the skills and tools needed to succeed in life.
The charity’s mentors build a rapport with the students and work with them prior to the trip, intensively during the 5 day residential stay, and again on their return to provide guidance, support and reassurance.
Local charity, The Sunninghill Trust, was instrumental in helping this new initiative become a reality for our students, after making a large donation to the school. Trustee of the charity, Will Dalton said, "We think this is a fantastic programme which has the potential to make a significant impact."
Next week the first group of students will travel to the farm in Monmouth, which is close to the beautiful Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. The farm has its own kitchen garden that provides most of the fruit and vegetables the students will eat during their stay, and they will get involved in many of the practical elements of running the farm. We can't wait to hear which part of the trip they enjoy most.
Our thanks to The Sunninghill Trust for supporting this initiative.
