Two Year 11 National Champions!
We are always keen to hear about the achievements of our students and were overjoyed to receive news about two of our Year 11 students who became BRITBOWL U16 National Champions during the summer.
Charlie in 11E and Leo in 11F play American football for the Rushmore Nights American football club, who are based in Farnborough. The boys were part of the team which won the BRITBOWL National Finals, which was held in Sheffield at the Hallam University ground on Saturday 31 August. The games were very competitive, and both the semis and finals were played on the same day. Rushmore with an undefeated record all season played the Highland Wildcats from Scotland in the semifinals and retained their unbeaten record by beating the wildcats 26 – 22. Having beaten the Wildcats, Rushmore went onto the final against the Solent Seahawks, who are based in Southampton and came out as the National Champions, beating the Seahawks 28 – 12 and finishing their season as Champions with an undefeated record.
Charlie is both a Rushmore Knights team regular and also a Rushmore Knights Academy player. He is also a Team GB Lions player, and he will be representing our country on the weekend of the 15 November away to Spain.
It is clear that both boys have worked incredibly hard to reach the top of their sport and we wish them well for the new season. We will also keep you updated on the progress of the Team GB Lions.
