Every year, here at Charters School we hold a Remembrance Ceremony to honour those who served Great Britain back in World War 1. This year, starting with Year 8, the students have been given the reigns on creating a beautiful poppy project, where each student is given the task the create their own individual poppy.

The Poppies will be collected and displayed in Tutor groups and created into a permanent poppy display in the Main Hall for future year groups and visitors to see. The students will also have the opportunity to write their own custom message on the back of the poppy. These messages could include phrases including 'Lest We Forget' or they are able to write a little poem on the back. To aid them in the creation of these poppies, History teacher, Miss Brown created a short video for the students to watch and follow along to help them create their own poppy.

This is just a small part of what happens in the History department. To find out more, you can view the curriculum here.
