Charters Chronicle
The Year 12 Social Action group have taken the initiative to rebrand the school newspaper, the Charters Chronicle, which has now published its first edition – hopefully the first of many! This newspaper was created by the students, for the students; the aim is to curate accessible information for all pupils and providing interesting cultural and political discussions.
We will be reporting on a diverse range of topics, including...
- coverage on school events/opportunities
- the local news
- key national and international events
- pop culture
- book and movie reviews
Our focus is on the 'unity' aspect of life at Charters; to be a reliable source for students navigating the school and the wider community, especially when it may feel overwhelming at times. The newspaper team are passionate members of the school community, many are aspiring journalists, writers and have interests in photography and digital design (even posting on social media).
Chief Editor, Priscilla, said, "We wanted to engage with students of all ages and interests, something separate from the weekly newsletter. We pride ourselves on producing something professional and informative as well as creative and fun. For example, interviewing teachers or fellow classmates."
Additionally, this student-lead club is glad to feature guest writers from different year groups and we will be welcoming the new Year 12 editors in September. So, we encourage you to explore this new opportunity to develop your skills and participate in school life.
