Japan Club Trip
This week, our students travelled to the Barbican Theatre to watch the Royal Shakespeare Company adaptation of the celebrated 1988 film 'My Neighbour Totoro'.
Read a report of the trip by one of the students:
On Thursday 29th of February, 12 students attended the “jaw-dropping” on stage adaptation of the anime “My Neighbour Totoro” along with Mr McNamara and Miss King as part of Japanese club.
The club was captivated by the story of two siblings, Satsuki and Mei, who travel to the countryside and move into a new home whilst their mother, who is suffering from a terminal illness, is in hospital, and are met with a magical creature whom Mei calls “Totoro.”
The on stage adaptation has already won 6 Olivier Awards and 5 WhatsOnStage Awards and has been hailed as “a remarkably beautiful show.”
The show brings to life a childhood fantasy world, and it is safe to say we all really enjoyed seeing this production with the school.
Japanese Club is just one of the many ECAs that are available throughout the academic year for students to take part in. The club returns on 14 March after a break of two weeks, and will continue each Thursday from 3.15 until 4.15 in T10. It is open to students in all year groups.
