Drama Theatre Trip
Before the half term break, the Drama department organised a trip to the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith so that students could watch the Franz Kafka play, Metamorphosis.
The theatre's website wrote the following about the play, "In their first commission since 2019, Frantic Assembly and Lemn Sissay OBE collaborate on this thrilling new adaptation of Metamorphosis. Combining the fluidity and lyricism of Lemn Sissay’s adaptation and Frantic’s uncompromising physicality, this promises to be an unmissable retelling of Franz Kafka’s shocking tale of cruelty and kindness; a visceral and vital depiction of humans struggling within a system that crushes them under its heel."
Read a report of the trip by Year 13 student Dom:
"Theatre trips such as the most recent one to the Lyric Hammersmith to see Frantic Assembly's Metamorphosis, was very useful in being another piece that can be evaluated as part of our written exam; appreciating and taking inspiration of stylistic qualities that can be applied to our devising and scripted performances as well as expanding upon our understanding of a prescribed practitioner. However, most importantly it exposes us to a variety of theatre, keeping the subject engaging, invigorating, and constantly innovative."
It sounds like the trip was a really valuable experience for the students. We would like to thank the Drama department for organising this wonderful extracurricular activity and for the staff members who accompanied the trip.
