Year 9's Cool Calypso Steel Pan Workshop
Earlier this week, our Year 9 students enjoyed some cool calypso beats at a Steel Pan workshop.
The workshop is an integral part of the Music curriculum where students learn about music from another culture and country - an important part of their musical education.
In the case of Steel Pan music they learn about the people of Trinidad and Tobago who made music out of whatever items they had to hand. This style of music is called Calypso, a lively and energetic rhythm which certainly put a smile on our faces on a cold winter morning!
Inspire-Works have been coming to Charters for nearly 10 years delivering fantastic workshops and engaging students in their music education. We are very grateful for the time they spent with us this week.
