Language Leaders Deliver Mini Lessons
Our Year 10 Language Leaders have been working hard during after-school sessions to put together a series of informative and engaging mini language lessons with a festive twist, and have been delivering them to Year 7 students during Tutor time
Cassidy showed Mrs McWalter's Tutor group a French film with English subtitles, which illustrated how people in France get ready for Christmas. From shopping in markets to gather the festive treats associated with the holiday season, to the traditions people in France observe, the film showed the students how people celebrate Christmas across the channel.
James and Thomas visited Dr. Armitage's Tutor group and played a game of Festive Bingo. The Language Leaders wrote a series of numbered Spanish phrases on to the whiteboard, and when the Year 7 students had guessed the English translation they were able to cross the number from their bingo card. It was a great lesson, and Dr. Armitage's Tutor group were thoroughly engaged.
Finally, Lauren's team played Miss Brown's Tutor group a beautiful French song which was accompanied by a vintage film showing Paris blanketed in snow. The words of the song were displayed in French at the bottom of the film and once it had finished the Language Leaders conducted a Q&A session.
Our thanks to Mrs Dabbaj for supporting the Year 10 Language Leaders to create the lessons, and of course to the students themselves for delivering such fun and festive information to our youngest students.
