Love for the Library
It is fabulous to have so many students from Year 8 through to Year 13 in the Library Team, and a joy to host a Christmas Breakfast for them, which allows us an opportunity to say THANK YOU for all they do. They are key to the smooth running of the Library, helping students to find books or deal with computer issues, lending and returning books on the desk, helping to prepare new books to go on the shelves and generally working hard to help keep this dynamic part of our school tidy.
Apart from helping with the day to day running of the Library, their wonderful help also allows us to run the clubs we offer at second break:
- On Mondays students in Years 7-9 can join in with Book Club.
- On Tuesdays students from all Year groups are invited to join the Sixth Form Next Gen Leaders running Library Games Club.
- On Wednesdays students from all year groups can join in Speed Chess Club run by more Sixth Form Next Gen Leaders with Mr Greaves.
We have Duke of Edinburgh volunteers who come after school; this month they have put up our Christmas Decorations and are maintaining our book display of Christmas Reading, which needs constant attention as books are borrowed by students to get in the Christmas spirit. At other times of year the students that come after school, and the sixth formers that come to help during lesson time, help with a multitude of behind-the scenes tasks which are particularly good for the development IT skills, creativity and attention to detail.
It is so rewarding to see their confidence grow and there can be no doubt how beneficial it is to the personal development of each and every member of the team.
