Bronze Arts Award
We are proud to announce that four of our Year 10 students have successfully completed the Bronze Arts Award.
Louisa, Sahaavi, Orla and Matilda had to complete a portfolio as they progressed through the qualification, explaining what they had taken part in, observed, and learnt along the way. The Bronze Arts Award requires students to hone their research and communication skills and helps develop their artistic abilities.
The students' portfolios were moderated over the summer and they had to evidence:
- actively participating in an art form
- reviewing and experiencing at least one arts event
- researching the career and work of an artist or craftsperson
- passing on an arts skill
The moderator who review the students' work said, "‘Excellent work from this cohort of Year 9 students. The compositions are a pleasure to listen to, and you can see the progress of this and of sharing skills by teaching a short class to younger students. Research in Arts Inspiration is interesting, in depth and unique to each young person. It was also lovely to read of the impact of attending a classical music concert.A rich set of portfolios and work, well evidenced with a mixture of templates, photos, audio and Word.’
Matilda said that the experience will undoubtedly help her during her GCSE Music course and Sahaavi felt that she is now better placed to compose and structure her music compositions. Reflecting on their experience of the Award, Orla and Louisa spoke about learning new skills which will help them across all their GCSE subjects.
It sounds like the Bronze Arts Award was a wonderful experience for the four students and we congratulate them on their achievement.
