Tate Britain Visit
On Wednesday Mrs Phipps and Miss Roberts accompanied 19 A-Level English Literature and Art and Design students to the Tate Britain gallery in London.
The day started with the train up to Vauxhall where the view of the London skyline from Vauxhall Bridge was enjoyed by all. This was followed by a pleasant walk along the Thames to the Tate. The group spent the morning in the Rossetti exhibition as the Literature students are currently studying the poetry of Christina Rossetti. This proved a fascination addition to their studies and they discovered the radical contribution the Rossettis and the Pre-raphelite brotherhood made to Victorian society.
The afternoon saw them exploring the main galleries and relishing works by Millais (the Literature students were particularly enthused to see his Ophelia which links to their study of Hamlet), William Blake and David Hockney.
