Montpellier Trip
Year 10 students enjoyed a fantastic week in France, immersing themselves in the French language and culture on our first homestay visit since 2019.
Their destination was Montpellier, a popular town for students with the bonus of only being a few kilometres away from the beach!
Students gained maximum exposure to the French language by staying with host families and studying each morning at LSF.
Further activities included a guided tour of the town in French, bowling, pétanque, and, of course, everyone’s highlight, a trip to Palavas beach with swimming, beach games and ice-cream!
One of the students, Billy, said “The Montpellier trip was an unforgettable experience. Being introduced to a new family, speaking French with them, and navigating our way around a huge city in a foreign country was tough. However, we learnt so much from our hosts, and after the first night, we felt comfortable and confident speaking French. Of course, the afternoon activities were the highlight of the trip. We were able to eat traditional French foods as well, and, whether we liked them or not, it was exciting to try something new. Overall, the Montpellier trip was a challenging yet really fun week, which we'll never forget.”
Throughout the trip, the students were accompanied by Miss Ganzhorn and trip leader, Miss Brown.
Miss Brown said: “The students fully embraced all opportunities given to them. Many of the host families commented on how lovely our students were. Upon our return to school, we have already seen an increased level of confidence in the students’ French language skills which really benefit them as they go into Year 11.”
