Last week, from the 14th to the 17th of June, the Year 12 geography students went to Wales as a part of our geography fieldwork NEA. We went to Porthcawl in Wales and stayed in the Margam Discovery Centre.

Here, we were fortunate enough to be supplied with guides, Josh, Rebecca, and Sarah who assisted us with research and looking at our data. We spent 3 days out either on Newton beach, looking at the physical side, or in Porthcawl town researching human geography.

We worked hard collecting our data each day, persevering with questionnaires and sand dune profiling. The evening sessions, although exhausting, allowed us to reflect on the day and do further statistical analysis.

There were more than many enjoyable parts of the trip such as: learning and applying the data methods with our friends, playing football and frisbee on the beach with Josh (the instructor), exploring the castle and its grounds, pizza night, karaoke on the coach, and playing rounders against two classes on the final night with Miss Walters and Miss Barrett. We are fortunate to have gone on this trip which has helped to develop research skills, analysis and some fun memories with our two classes.
