Unity Day 2023
On 23 April this year our school celebrated its 65th birthday.
After opening our doors to just under 400 students on St. George's Day 1958, we have become an institution which sits at the heart of our community and educates over 1700 students each year.
For the past few years we have celebrated our birthday with a Unity day and this year was no exception; students and staff alike dressed in red, white and blue as a nod to St. George's Day and donated towards the school's Unity Fund in payment for wearing mufti. Thanks to the generosity of parents/carers and staff who donated towards the event, we raised over £1500 for the Unity Fund, which helps families who are experiencing financial difficulty.
An additional £800 was raised last Friday evening when parents/carers and staff took part in the annual quiz night. The winning team was Miccoli's Munchkins, with The King's Gambit & Magna Charters in joint second. It was wonderful to see so many of our wider school community at the event, and it really felt like we were getting back to normal after the difficulties of the pandemic.
We would like to thank all the past and current staff, students and parents/carers who have contributed to our success over the past six and a half decades and made Charters School what it is today.
We will mark our birthday again on 15 July when we host the Charters Festival. The event will bring together local charities, current students, alumni and school supporters to round off the 2022/23 academic year with the ultimate celebration!
