Ascot Racecourse Trip
Students from Year 7 visited Ascot Racecourse this week for a behind-the-scenes tour. They learnt about the history of the racecourse and saw the entire site from the top of the stands. They also saw the Royal Box, shook hands with a statue of Prince Phillip and the Queen from their younger days and viewed the impressive champagne collection which were sadly empty as they were used as decorations.
The students weighed themselves on the jockey scales and were also lucky enough to meet an ex-racehorse who let them stroke him and feed him polos!
All of the staff and guides were very welcoming and were full of information and interesting facts.
Year 7 student Maisy said, ''On the Ascot Racecourse trip, we walked around and looked behind the scenes of what happens at Ascot. We even saw inside His Majesty's Representation Box. Side Glance, a horse we saw who is 15 years old has won 1 million pounds on racing!''
Year 7 Jay said, ''Something I really enjoyed was seeing the horse. He was retired at the age of 15, he had just been in a race whilst retired, and he had to retire because of an injury in his leg. Danny and Andy were super nice tour guides. They showed us the Executives’ boxes and behind the scenes. The view was really nice on the 6th floor and you could see the whole course (near enough).''
We would like to thank Ascot Racecourse for hosting such an informative event and Miss Beirne for accompanying the students.
