Sixth Form Students Create Easter Treats
Students at Charters have always been encouraged to have a strong sense of community spirit and this was clear to see as Sixth Form students created Easter treats for local care home residents.
The students filled brightly coloured eggs with messages, gifts and small chocolate eggs in the hope of bringing a smile to the faces of some of our community's elder inhabitants.
Sixth Form administrator, Mrs Boxall said, "We are delighted to have come up with a new initiative this year to engage our senior community."
The activity is part of the Sixth Form's 'Social Action Project'; students fundraise for various social causes throughout the academic year and use the funds in a variety of ways within the local community.
"I feel like we are representing the school values" said Lorcan and Sirine added, "It's great to feel that we are helping the older residents".
The Sixth Form Common Room was a riot of colour as the eggs were created and it was a pleasure to see our students embodying our values of Unity Respect Excellence.
The Easter treats were hand delivered to Ascot Grange, Ascot Day Centre and Signature at Ascot by Mr Metson, the Head of Year 13, and Sixth Form students. They spent some time with the care home residents and Mr Metson received the following message from Tracy, the Client Liaison Manager of Signature at Ascot :
"Thank you so much for coming over with your delightful Sixth Formers, with the lovely Easter Eggs and messages.
Please feel free to come over again soon, as it certainly means a lot to the residents and obviously your students, who put the time and effort, which we certainly appreciate."
One of our Sixth Form students concluded " It was such a nice thing to do and restores your faith in humanity."
