Bethany competes at Welsh Junior Indoor Championships
Last weekend, Year 7 student Bethany competed in the Welsh Junior Indoor Championships in Cardiff. Bethany, who has Welsh family heritage, is registered with the WAA (Welsh Athletics Association) and hopes to one day represent Wales and Great Britain in athletics.
Bethany, who is part of Bracknell AC, did a fantastic job, winning a Silver medal in the U13 Girls 200m and a Bronze in the U13 girls 60m sprints. She said "I really love athletics because it is fun, you get to exercise and you learn new things. I have to work hard in my training and listen to my coaches, but this helps me get better. I also get to make lots of friends from different places as we normally compete in the same competitions together. I was very nervous when I went to the competition as there were lots of good athletes there, but when I crossed the finish line and got my medals, I was so happy and proud of what I had done. I really want to run for Wales and GB in the future, so I need to work hard to be able to do this."
Well done to Bethany and we hope to see more of her sporting achievements in the future.
