Year 11 Student Signs Two Year Scholarship with Oxford United FC
Year 11 student Denis has just been offered a full time two year scholarship with the professional club Oxford United FC.
With over 100 players having graduated from the Club's Youth Team into first team football over the last thirty years, Oxford United has a proud history of providing a pathway for aspiring, young professionals.
The signing is a dream come true for Denis who's love of football began at the age of six when he started playing for his school in Spain, Aloha College FC. When the family moved to England, Denis transferred to Fulham FC U13s team and continued to play through the age squads until recently.
Denis said "I am super delighted to have signed a two year contract with Oxford United. I would like to thank all my family, friends, teachers and individuals who have been very supportive and helped me greatly on my journey."
For the remainder of this year, Denis will be training four times a week with matches at the weekend and will embrace the hard work and dedication that is needed to balance football training and school life. From next season he will be moving to Oxford to play full time, training every day, and continuing his education at the Oxford United FC academy.
Denis' football heroes are Leo Messi, Eden Hazard and Phil Foden, but he added that as well as these, his sporting hero is his dad.
Denis concluded, "It has been my dream and ambition to become a professional footballer since I started playing football and this is a massive achievement towards my goal. I am super excited for what the future holds."
We wish Denis all the very best for the thrilling journey ahead.
