Our visit was extremely helpful for deciding whether Cambridge, or Oxbridge in general, was the right university for me.

Ameilia, the university’s school liaison officer, spent the first part of the morning talking in general  about Cambridge life, and the myths about Cambridge. This was important for us to learn because of the multiple preconceptions about the university that we now know to be false. During the second part of the morning, some Selwyn College students took us on a tour of the College and the Cambridge University library. We saw the amazing facilities that would be at our disposal if we attended Cambridge and learnt about student-living in a college campus university.

After lunch, we went to the Fitzwilliam Museum in the city, where we saw another learning resource that the students have access to. This was also a good insight for anyone wanting to study History or Archaeology, because we got to analyse ancient statues and paintings with one of the tour guides, Jenny.

The day ended back at the College when we had the fantastic opportunity to ask questions to Dr Stuart Eves, who is part of the application process for Medicine and Veterinary Science at Selwyn college. We asked questions about specific subjects, but most crucially, about personal statements, interviews, and admission tests. This was extremely valuable information that we wouldn’t have had without this fantastic experience.
