Being Part of a Crew

17th Nov 2022

Have you ever wanted to be part of a production, but didn't fancy treading the boards in the spotlight?

Have you ever thought about controlling that spotlight rather than being in it?

Results Day 2022 (1)

In six days time the school's Senior Production Private Peaceful will have its Opening Night, and as the lights dip, Year 10 student Henry will be ensuring that the stage is bathed in the perfect atmospheric glow.

We caught up with backstage crew member Henry, who has worked on designing the stage lighting for the show and will be operating it on the night.

What made you sign up for Private Peaceful?

I wanted to be involved in the production because I am really interested in stage lighting.

What is it about production lighting that interest you?

I like the technical aspect of programming the lights to create different effects.  I also really like being part of a team that brings the production to life by creatively using the lighting on the stage.

Why is Private Peaceful relevant today?

Private peaceful is about two brothers before in the war and the struggles they go through.  It is very relevant due to the current war in Ukraine.

What have you learnt from being part of the Senior Production?

I have learnt to make sure I am organised, so everything runs smoothly, and have learnt the ins and outs of all the lighting equipment.

If you want to see how lighting can make the difference in a show, or are thinking about a career in theatre production and lighting, why not come along to Private Peaceful next week.  Tickets are available via the links below.
