Year 7 Freshers Fayre
This morning our new Year 7 students began their first day at Charters School and after meeting their tutors and peers, were shown around the school by the Year 11 prefects. With all other year groups returning to school tomorrow, it was the perfect environment to find their feet!
Before lunch the students visited the Freshers Fayre where they discovered the range of Extra Curricular Activities on offer at Charters.
Alongside the traditional Extra Curricular Activities that the students may have taken part in at their junior schools such as Football, Art and Drama, there were opportunities for the Year 7 students to sign up for Esperanza, Rugby, Japanese Language & Culture, Tennis, Chess & Challenge and Backstage Club amongst many many others.
Mr Hancock, Head of Year 7 said, “One of the things we are most proud about at Charters is the extensive range of free extra-curricular activities that are provided by our teaching staff. Participating in the wider life of the school is crucial to a rich and rounded education and it is often through these activities that we see our students maturing and developing as young people which has a significant knock-on effect for their progress in lessons.”
By taking part in an ECA students also build lasting friendships and gain transferable skills whilst also bolstering their confidence. We hope that all students take an active part in our school community and join at least one ECA.
