EXAM RESULTS
Photography students at Charters School will have the confidence and skills to interpret their vision of the world through unique perspectives, demonstrating aesthetic capacities based on a balance of technical skills and innovation. They will be able to investigate and record ideas using a range of camera equipment, applying technical and creative interpretations of the environment they inhabit. They will have the ability to interpret meaning through critical analysis of key historical photographers, communicating about the purpose and value of their photographic work in the 21st century. Their portfolio of work will prepare them for higher education and employment opportunities, helping students represent the value of their visual thoughts in the creative industry.
This means:
- Students will be able to operate a camera with confidence, demonstrating manual control in a range of different photo shoot settings.
- Students will produce a portfolio of work based on a set of negotiated themes that demonstrate analogue and digital proficiency.
- Students will have the opportunity for open debate about work through regular critiques and tutorials to develop a broad visual vocabulary and an appreciation for other people’s ideas and viewpoints.
- Students will develop their understanding of how to work to a brief both as individuals and as part of a team, focusing on the specifics of the creative process across a range of genres from social realism to commercial photography.
