HIGHLIGHTS

SPORTS DAY

Finally we have had a Sports Day and running at the same time as the World Champs in Oregon as well.  Judging by the effort on display and some of the distances and times posted, we might have a future world champion competing.  Well done to all students for taking part and showing  true sporting endeavour in what has been a challenging week in the heat!  There were some excellent sporting performances.

STAFF LEAVING

We wish the staff who are leaving us all the best for their retirement or new adventure in education or outside it.  Thank you to all of them for supporting our students in their learning at school and providing a caring environment for all students to try to be their best.  A very special mention goes to those staff who are retiring:

Mr Sol the Site Manager who has worked at Charters for 37 years, yes you read it correctly 37 years.  Ms Morrison (Drama and formal Head of Sixth Form) after 21 years at Charters, Mrs Roberts Teacher of Maths and Mrs Chaudhary Teacher of Science.  We wish you all a happy retirement and enjoyment of non-term-time holidays!

We are also saying goodbye to Mrs Theobalds, Mrs Duncan, Ms Brennan, Miss Wareham, Mr Beckingham, Mr Boyce, Miss Hamilton-Eadie, Mrs Mogeroy, Miss Blatchford and Mr Hoyle.

Further I would like to extend my congratulations to Miss Doran and Mr Whiteside who have secured teacher training positions after spending a year shadowing and developing their skills across different functions of the school.  Mrs Findlay (TA)  and Mrs Smith who works on student services are also moving on this year.

We would like to wish you all a restful and safe summer holiday.  Please check the school website for information regarding the start of term and term dates for 2022 – 2023.

HOPE

The Health Outcomes for young People throughout Education (HOPE) team at the University of Cambridge have designed three survey that aim to explore and highlight any variations in SEND identification and provision across all Local Authorities in England.

One survey is aimed at children and young people, and asks about their experiences with SEND (aged 11-27), the second type of survey is aimed at parents and carers of children (of any age) with SEND. The third type is aimed at wider stakeholders (including those working in education, for the health services, and for local authorities). All surveys are anonymous, and the study has been approved by Cambridge Psychology Research Ethics Committee, study ref:PRE:2021.058.

The three types of survey can all be accessed via this link : https://redcap.link/HOPEsurvey

SUPPORTING STUDENTS TO LOOK AFTER THEIR MENTAL HEALTH THIS SUMMER

We often look forward to the summer holidays but for some students it can be a difficult transition away from the structure of school life. The summertime is also an opportunity for students to reflect and make changes that may have a positive impact on the year ahead. Please click here for a resource that students may find useful to use during the summer holidays.

UNIFORM 2022-23

Parents, please do remind yourself of the uniform expectations before buying.   A very simple message is that trainers of any colour are not part of the school uniform.  A full list of uniform expectations can be found here
